Tron @ Magic Kingdom: Cast Member Preview

Today we were lucky enough to get to ride Tron as part of the Cast Member Preview! Cole took his dad (Keith), his brother (CJ), me (Carmen), and our friend (Brian) to check out the newest addition to The Magic Kingdom!

Getting in: For the Cast Member Preview, Cole had to sign up via the Disney Hub. Once it came to our reservation date, we headed to the Transporation and Ticket Center (TTC) to pick up our bands. With the bands, we didn’t need a reservation, but we were limited to how much time we could spend in the park… We were allowed to walk to the ride and then when our time slot was done, we had to walk right back out of the park. The time slots were one hour long, but you could check in up to 90 minutes in advance. Our time was 1-2 PM but we checked in at Noon!

The Bikes

Overall the rumors about the bikes seem to be true. They are not made for larger sizes. As a size 26, I could NOT fit on the bikes. I couldn’t get the bar to close over my calves even with the trick of stretching my leg to the back of the foot area. My son, Cole, a size 42×34 pants, fit comfortably on the bike. He is 6’2″, and his foot went all the way to the back without trying. He believes a taller person would struggle to get on. We rode the ride 3 times, each time we rode a person, not in our group, was unable to fit in and was escorted off the ride.

The Queue

We were able to go through both queue lines: Standby and Lightening Lane, during our preview. Both lines have the same entry hallway and pre-show. The difference in the standby is the extended queue area to wait for the ride. The standby queue starts down by the entrance to the ride area and goes up to the building and inside. It reminded me of the queue for Slinky Dog, in that it wraps down and around an area before getting to the main ride queue. If you have a LL or DAS pass, you would bypass this line and go to the front of the entrance to enter the LL area. Below are pictures and videos of the entire line walkthrough.

After the Ride!

The nice thing about the Tron area is the amount of seating available. When you get off the ride, there is an area to catch your breath if you need it. It has benches, a drinking fountain, and a place for you to kennel your support pet during your ride. Outside of the ride, there are a number of benches to relax on… Most are in the shade given off by the dome.

Bathroom

The addition of Tron also gives us an additional bathroom at MK. One that most people will probably forget about as it is up the hill at the ride. They are very roomy. I used a regular stall while I was there and fit comfortably.

Overall, it was a great ride. We are looking forward to many more rides on Tron!
